Pennsylvania Faces New Rules on Drilling Wastewater Handling
A Pennsylvania proposed rule to curb drilling wastewater aims to force reuse or advanced treatment of brine before discharge into waterways. If adopted, plants must obtain state approval to take on extra wastewater or use specialized pretreatment. The rule, effective January 1, faces possible Senate opposition and industry pushback.
