Col. Roosevelt lands amid roaring cannons as thousands cheer the arrival. The event marks six weeks since the start of the campaign and underlines a strong public reception.
The Playgrounds association plans six week summer sessions starting July 11 at Lincoln and Garfield school grounds with swings sand heaps and shade trees. A committee from each ward will secure six helpers per district to raise memberships and $1 fees. The group aims to expand next year with municipal aid and more playgrounds while preparing to solicit subscriptions led by treasurer EB McGill who reports $30 in the treasury.
Employees at two local tin mills were paid today and a big sum entered circulation, with several other industrial plants observing regular pay days.

She arrived from Vancouver, B C, to stay with Mrs. Laura Falls of Laurel avenue, sister of Mrs. Martin, and recalls the city’s early days from the old homestead. She likely will remain with relatives for some time.
Post-nuptial cards announce the marriage of Miss Florence Wilson of Salisbury and Roy A Long of this city. The at-home date is July 18 and the couple will reside at 31 Court Street.
A Mill Street construction crew, including Italian laborers laying South Mill Street near Washington Street, worked to a funeral march played by a blind organ grinder. The pace slowed as the organ’s music kept time, prompting Patrolman Cy Horner to suggest either a livelier tune or relocation. The organ grinder moved on when no upbeat music could be found.
Alonzo Souslin of Dayton Ohio, one of the few known survivors of a broken neck, will arrive July 2 and stay through the Independence Day celebration. He was injured in 1896 when a plank struck him during NCR company work in Dayton, and now wears a head-to-body brace with an iron hook to move about.

Peter Henderson the driver in last Saturday’s accident involving Ohl’s auto faced a mayoral hearing by Mayor Lusk on reckless driving and a $400 damages claim by victim Robert Groome. After evidence Henderson was bound over to the September term with $500 bail and could not furnish bail at once.
The Reformed Presbyterian congregation of Rose Point will hold an ice cream social next Tuesday evening at the home of J. J. Kennedy in Rose Point.

United Press reports Roosevelt arrival in New York with William Loeb bustling as porters and crowds cheering. Loeb carries duties between Kaiserin and Manhattan with luggage while the press observes the party. Roosevelt greets family including Miss Alexander and Teddy Jr. as subway crews wear special caps and Rough Riders form part of the escort.
The mayor enforces a strict ban on premature fireworks. Police will ensure that approved fireworks may only be discharged on July 4. Firecrackers are limited to the single day, July 4, with strict enforcement.

A wagon of Mr. Byler and a milk wagon from Seven Oaks dairy nearly collided Saturday around 10 30 near North and Mill streets. Neither driver was aboard, wheels interlocked as the horses started, Byler’s horse fled to East street and was stopped. No damage reported.
John H. Marshall of 159 Crawford avenue returned from a trip to Toledo Ohio. He traveled by train there and returned by automobile with A C and E E Hileman. Mr and Mrs John S Meely of this city visited over Sunday with Mr and Mrs N B Graham of East Brady.
