In Wampum Pennsylvania on June 15 robbers broke into the P and L E station chewing gum machine and telephone booth and set dynamite and a fuse to blow the safe but fled before detonation. The nearby section house was entered with no major losses noted and the attempted explosion is believed to have occurred about 2 o'clock This morning. Franklin Ferrante’s jewelry store was broken into on Saturday night for the third time in under a year with no items reported stolen and three gunshots fired as three men left the building observed by Joseph Butler Jr.

Nelson Has Close Call After Fall By Embankment
William Nelson of east of town lay unconscious from Saturday night until Sunday evening after slipping off a steep embankment near Big Run while returning from the city. He was found by his son in law Bert Hoagland and taken home by ambulance. A doctor said no bones were broken and he is recovering from bruises and shock.

Thirty lazy husbands confined in the county stockade earned 901 for their families in the last month. They were paid for clearing land under deputy sheriffs supervision with wages scaled to family size. larger families received 1.50 a day while a man with only a wife earned 1.00 a day.

Colored Youth Drowns at Dam Near Paper Mill
A 19 or 20 year old colored youth, John G. Massie, drowned Sunday afternoon while swimming at the dam near the paper mill. He was seized by cramps and could not be saved despite aid. The body was taken to Jos. 38. Rice's undertakers for burial and viewed by Coroner Norris. He had been living in Pittsburgh and employed as a porter at the Sherman hotel.

May Hold Picnic At Cascade Park
Ellwood City officials report an outing committee will decide the annual board of trade picnic site and date. Mrs Davidson Seriously Injured In Automobile Accident
Mrs W W Davidson wife of a local feed dealer suffered two broken legs and a fractured ankle when a car rolled backward on a grade near East Liverpool. She leaped from the vehicle but was struck as it moved, with no one else injured. She received initial care at Beaver Falls hospital before returning home.

International News Service reports from Torreon that General Natera has captured the villages of Guadalupe Mercedes and Grillo within 24 hours and claims his forces suffered light losses while federals incurred heavy casualties and matériel. Vicious Rooster Attacks Boy in Scranton
A three year old boy, son of Mr and Mrs Charles Hendry of 1035 Adams Avenue, was seriously pecked by a barred Plymouth rooster named Patsy. The bird, owned by William Granville of 1030 Dixcourt, was seized after Granville was arrested and heard before Alderman Jacob Smith. The owner said he would kill the animal to avoid neighbor trouble.
