Romantic comedies rebound at the box office this summer
Los Angeles reports a revival of romantic comedies with five major releases including Crazy Rich Asians and a Mamma Mia sequel. Critics note the genre’s past decline due to focus on franchises and white straight tropes, and highlight The Big Sick as a turning point. Set It Up stands out as a throwback about real job-holding protagonists.
