New Castle Soldier Separated After Pro Communist Actions
A New Castle graduate from West Point, second lieutenant Rapone, was discharged from the Army with an honorable discharge after an investigation into pro Communist actions. He posted a graduation photo with the phrase Communism Will Win and wore a Che Guevara shirt under his uniform. Rapone, who joined 1st Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment, deployed to Afghanistan in 2011 from Fort Stewart, Georgia. The Army said the matter is closed and noted the penalties of an other than honorable discharge limit reenlistment and veterans benefits.
