Fourteen soldiers of the 101st Airborne Division died when a truck plunged 25 feet into Piney Ford Creek at Fort Campbell Kentucky. Nine were injured and an investigation is underway. Pvt Ronald J Curtis of Kalamazoo Michigan survived with facial injuries.

Friday death record lists Howard F. Culbertson aged 49 of 7 E Maple Street Joseph A. Malloy aged 77 of Hileman Apartments Wallace Avenue and Mrs Donald Boyd aged 62 of 124 North Ray Street all noted for the weekday notice with ages and addresses.
Detroit police pressed a wide search for the killer of 6 year old Mary DeCaussin whose rape and mutilated body was found near a roadside park in suburban Ecorse Two Thursday. One man was held for questioning while two others were released as clues were pursued. Jacques Pares, an itinerant worker from Patchogue NY, is named in the report.
The Mayflower II remains at her moorings in Plymouth harbor for 11 more days as owners redraw plans for future display. Public viewing is allowed but no access aboard to prevent wrecking by souvenir hunters. Crew unloads 92 chests from the Atlantic crossing bound for Boston, Dayton, Columbus, New York, Providence, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Philadelphia and Buffalo, containing snuff cans, pins, toys, machinery parts, liquors and a model Mayflower.
In Pennsylvania a car carrying four Montgomery-Norristown Bank and Trust Co. employees overturned after a collision near Norristown and burst into flames. Jean Mc Laughlin and Mary Ann McCafferty were killed, Barbara Schlesman and Sue Scitesman were seriously burned. Mrs. George Bailey, driver of the other car, was uninjured. The injured were taken to Montgomery County Hospital.
Mrs. Anna L. Espich, 86, who was blind and deaf, died Thursday from a fall down stairs at a private nursing home in Altoona. Blair County Coroner D. Harold Troxell ordered an autopsy.
Richard Cascino age 21 of 834 Sutton Street received a laceration to the left thumb while at work. He was treated and discharged from Jameson Memorial Hospital.
Strong gusts tore through New Wilmington on Thursday afternoon uprooting trees and breaking branches that blocked power and phone lines. Two tall maples fell across 220 Vine Street, damaging the porch roof and windows while Miss Emily Johnston, a New Castle High School English teacher, was away in Erie. Power outages lasted from 4 18 p m to 10 30 p m.
DARRELL GARWOOD reports from QUANTICO that Defense Secretary Charles E. Wilson signaled a roughly 10 percent cut in the U.S. military program, affecting both personnel and weapons, with the armed forces at 2,800,000. The announcement came at a tightly controlled news conference opening a three day secretaries conference. Attendees included 175 military and government leaders, and two other cabinet members.

About 75 to 100 Local 4194 members returned to work at Bossert's New Castle Division of Rockwell Spring and Axle Co to end the eight day unauthorized walkout. Daniel W.
