Trout Farm Hidden Near Ed Covert Home Sparks Curiosity
Ed Covert, a 62 year old former UPS worker in Neshannock Township, runs a trout breeding operation on nearly five acres behind his Hazelcroft Avenue hill home. He started seven years ago using a natural spring and ponds, now housing about 40,000 to 50,000 trout, including 4,000 to 5,000 rainbow trout, selling most to area sportsmen clubs and events like Volant’s Fish for Fun. Brittany the Rottweiler helps and often reaches the trout first, as the story notes the dog’s swimming skill and showoff tendencies.
