Prosecutor Dwyer lied about bribe offer trial nears end
In Williamsport, prosecutors and defense close arguments in the CTA influence case. William Smith and Alan Stoneman face 16 counts each of conspiracy mail fraud and interstate transportation in aid of racketeering. Torquato testified to a $300,000 bribe offer while Dwyer denied it. The trial, in its 12th week with 103 witnesses, could end as jurors decide today or Friday. Ice cream social at St Luke AME Zion Church follows.
