Certification lapses for Lawrence County planners noted
The Lawrence County Planning Commission’s HUD issued certification expired June 1. A HUD letter from area director Charles Lieberth urged a prompt reply to questions about this year’s commission activities. Commissioners said progress exists in two areas, but hiring a full time planner remains a hurdle. The panel approved possible legal action to block a Mahoning Township mobile home park and reviewed parts of a county solid waste study while eyeing an environmental program with Mercy, Venango, Erie, and Crawford counties. A June 27 meeting at the Holiday Inn will discuss flood control near the Beaver River Basin.
