Circus Elephant Nemo Shot To Death In Pa
Nemo, a 4800 pound male elephant with the Dailey Brothers circus, was killed after officials said he became potentially dangerous. The 25 year old bull had grown ill-natured recently and was chained to a railroad car for a week. Nemo was noted as the only male elephant willing to work in the ring.

Three Injured In Auto Crash Near New Castle
State police report a two-vehicle crash six miles beyond New Castle on the Ellwood City highway at 4 45 pm left three injured. Webster G Jones of Crawford Village McKeesport drove a truck toward Ellwood City after a gas pedal malfunction. A pole carrying high tension wires broke, wires fell and set the pole and adjoining field on fire. Mrs Thomas Haney 44 Portersville R D 2 suffered internal injuries Kathleen Haney 21 severe leg and head injuries and Mary L Haney 20 knee cuts bruises and shock. All were taken to Ellwood City Hospital. Jones faces a charge of failing to yield one half of the highway.

Drowned Boy Herbert Sims Recovered in Shenango River
The body of 12 year old Herbert Sims son of Mr and Mrs Herbert Sims of 135 Eimap street was recovered this morning at 11 o clock downstream from the lumber yard on Shenango River near Green street. He drowned Tuesday afternoon about 1 o clock. Esco Owens of 210 Green Green street rescued the body after swimming into the river. Coroner's deputy Peter Rupp attended the scene. Funeral services are set for Saturday at 3 30 from Crankleton funeral home with interment in Graceland cemetery.
