French forces halted a German attack along a two to seven mile front during the Montdidier Oise fighting. Tanks aided the French advance while German losses were described as enormous, approximating forty to fifty thousand men.

Washington June 13 Every U S port with access to the Atlantic Pacific or Gulf is under tight guard against German spies and Uboats. All craft not in foreign or coastwise trade must be licensed and may need permits to move before sunrise or after sunset. Special permits cover carrying cameras and movement of boats. Infractions carry penalties under the espionage act as license forms and ID cards are issued.
Police raided the Moravia street alleged disorderly house of Junius Terry. Elnore Bennett listed as inmate and two men as visitors faced the mayor and paid $2 fines plus costs to be released.
Ed Barris admitted striking the first blow in a quarrel that brought him before the mayor. Clark Barris said he fought back after being struck. Ed Barris wore a black eye as evidence of the tussle. The mayor fined Ed 13 dollars and discharged Clark.
Jay Allen of Mahoningtown faced arrest last night after making threats and refusing to move when asked by officers. He posted a $5 forfeit for appearance and did not show up.
German captives captured near the Marne report a large American victory and vow to leave the war. About 449 prisoners were taken in the latest round up, bringing the total to nearly 900. They describe harsh conditions, praise American treatment, and say the war will end within a year.
Burglars forced a rear door at the Frank Bargain House on West Washington Street Tuesday night and stole a watch and two revolvers from display. A crowd is suspected in the robbery and a heavy plank was used to pry the entrance open. No further damage is believed to be damaging.
Mr and Mrs Thomas S McCombs who run Graceland cemetery received word from Adjutant General McCain that their son William H McCombs has been severely wounded in battle in France. No details were given beyond the injury and a further telegram is sent to another son Thomas with the 15th regiment engineers for information. William volunteered last April and belonged to Company A 28th regiment Regular Army Infantry which went over early with General Pershing.
The Commonwealth cases concluded with not guilty verdicts for Charles Douglass on aggravated assault and battery and for C. D. Granger on larceny of merchandise. Rocco Di Geniro was discharged on a charge of being an unnaturalized foreigner with a gun. Mike Sielf was found not guilty on assault and battery. Albert Smith’s case on carrying concealed weapons was heard this forenoon.
Local police issued alerts after two Ford Touring cars were stolen in Youngstown yesterday. Reports request watchers to note license numbers 153150 and 159310 and be vigilant tonight.
Four men will leave for Camp Greenleaf Georgia to fill the county draft quota. Kenneth Kelly James Aepple Albert Smith and Rev Robert Cummings meet at the courthouse at 4 p m Friday June 14 before boarding. Cummings a United Presbyterian minister who had sought a chaplain role was reclassified to private to show patriotism.
The Ladie's Aid society of the Savannah Methodist church hosts an ice cream and cake social on Friday evening. Proceeds support church activities and community outreach.

McKeesport Pa June 13 two black stablemen and 14 horses died in a fire of undetermined origin that destroyed the Pittsburg Cash Produce Co stables. Loss estimated at 5000 dollars as all fire equipment fought the blaze. The dead are Claude Williams and Frank Pink.
Mrs. Sara Jane Lash, age 70, of Chewton, Pa, died. The record lists George Miller 20 of Ellwood City as a related name in the fragment.
