Inmate sues officers over alleged jail beating
Mercer man Scott J. Lauderbaugh Jr. alleges five Lawrence County jail corrections officers abused him after his Feb. 5 arrest. The suit names Rascon Struthers West McEwen and Carney, claiming beatings in a strip search room left him with facial injuries a swollen ear and other pain. He says one officer threw dirty socks and that West did not intervene as the assault continued until a captain ordered them to stop.
