Stone from 1874 linked to Lawrence County treasurer era found
A 615 pound engraved stone labeled County Treasures Office 1874 was found in a Lawrence County Treasurer’s Office cabinet during spring cleaning. Current treasurer Richard Rapone and register of wills Janet Kalajainen seek anyone with ties to its origin, noting it may have been a gift related to Forbes Holton who served as treasurer in 1874. A replica pillar honoring Justice and the phrase sans peur et sans reproche will be unveiled with the stone.
