The Pennsylvania Department Grand Army of the Republic in its sixty fifth annual encampment selects Lancaster for 1931. About 175 veterans and youth join a parade and campfire this afternoon at the Cathedral as the event continues with forward resolve.
In dense fog off Seituate a passenger liner Fairfax and oil tanker Pinthis collided, igniting a fire that swept the sea. Authorities report eighteen dead from the Fairfax and twenty-three from the Pinthis, the latter sinking after explosions from gasoline. Rescue efforts continue amid worsening conditions.
Nine veterans of the Roundheads gathered for a reunion at noon to recall battles and share memories. Organizers invited fellow survivors and descendants to join the event at a local historical society hall.

Miss Florence Jenkins daughter of Mr and Mrs W C Jenkins of Delaware Avenue received her diploma from Ohio University at Monday morning exercises. She was chosen as one of six most represented women in the class of 1930 and returned home Tuesday evening to spend vacation with her parents.
Judge Josiah Cohen, 90, oldest Allegheny County jurist and dean of the Pennsylvania judiciary, died at 8 AM at the Schenley hotel. His wife was with him. Physicians attributed the heart attack to cause. He had been mostly bedbound but not believed gravely ill. He served nearly 30 years on the Allegheny common pleas court.

The Pennsylvania Public Service Commission postponed its short haul rates hearing on iron and steel in the Pittsburgh district from June 18 to July 9. The session will be held at the Chamber of Commerce auditorium, after the commission accepted the chamber’s offer, amid protests over abolishing circuitous rail routes used by local manufacturers.
Reverend Joseph F. Hamilton aged 54 and his wife died in a Sunday evening auto crash near Somerset, Michigan. Mr. Hamilton’s brother, George W. Hamilton of New Castle, and other relatives survived. Funeral services are in Somerset today with attendance from George W. Hamilton of New Castle.

Harrisburg June 11 The Bohlen Phillips campaign committee of Lebanon county reported receipts of 2500 and expenditures of 2442. A $1000 contribution came from B Dawson Coleman of Lebanon, with the remainder from the state campaign committee. The Davis Brown committee of Columbia county filed an account showing receipts and expenditures totaling 1676.53. In Fayette county the Pinchot committee received and spent 724 with 253 added for advertising unpaid.
The Fairfax passenger list released from Boston lists travelers across multiple locations and affiliations. Names include H. N. Rose J. W. Norwood F. H. Cole Henry Sargent and numerous other passengers with ties to institutions and cities such as Somerville Nashua Salem and Yale Club.
