Local angler honored for Neshannock Creek catch-and-release stretch
The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission credited Neshannock Township resident Bob Veltre for designating a 2.3 mile delayed harvest stretch on Neshannock Creek from the Volant bridge to Banks Covered Bridge. Since 1990 artificial lures only, year round fishing with nine to eighteen inch trout, and a June to Labor Day keep limit of three per day. Veltre organized support, helped stock larger fish, and received a commemorative plaque for his work with the commission and local clubs.
