New Castle board to receive petitions on budget cuts and gifted program
The New Castle Area School Board will hear three petitions this week two criticizing budget cuts that affect two dental hygienists and 19 teaching positions and one applauding the board for the gifted program from Arthur McGill Elementary PTA parents. Education Association President Stanley Magusiak said he would present the petitions and urged rescinding the cuts if possible while the PTA group asked the board to retain four of five gifted teachers as funding options are explored. Board president DeBlasio encouraged broader community involvement in advisory efforts.
