United Press International reports several weekend highway deaths across the state. Ernest Whaley, 49, of Corry Erie County, died from motorcycle crash injuries near Warren. Passenger Donald Robel, 25, survived. David Sanner, 18, of Midland Road 1, perished in a collision with an East Rochester police cruiser on Route 65. Police officers treated and released. Paul M. Fortin, 45, died in a home fire in Erie. Daniel Lee Kautchik, 15, body recovered from an abandoned strip mine seven miles north of Mercer after drowning Saturday.
