Alumni Day drew a large crowd, weather cleared for outdoor May Queen and May Pole events, and Sunday featured services and an oratorio. John B. A flood and hailstorm near Golden Colorado on June 7 caused crop and property damage, drowned livestock, and cut telephone service north of town. Sheriff George Koch reported the cloudburst hit farms northwest of Golden. Golden Gate Canyon road Highway 58 was washed out and several Golden homes were damaged. No casualties reported.

Chicago June 7. Members of the CIO UPW return to Wilson and Co after a 10 week strike, rehired on a work available basis. A Wilson spokesman said only a small number of the 8000 workers would be rehired immediately. The CIO UPW announced it had called off its strike in seven Wilson plants nationwide two weeks after settling with the other Big Four members.

Two Injured In Auto Crashes Near New Castle
Two persons were injured in two accidents on the New Castle and Butler highway seven miles east of the city. Mrs. Ida Caplan and Mrs. Florence Breidenbach suffered injuries from a chain of collisions involving four cars in rainy conditions. Caplan and Breidenbach were treated at Jameson Memorial Hospital. The crashes began when Blotnik’s westbound car skidded into Caplan’s westbound vehicle. McKinnon’s eastbound car was struck, and Breidenbach’s eastbound vehicle then hit the wreckage, tipping onto its side.
