A Scranton jury acquitted George Hebron of voluntary manslaughter in the death of his common law wife Beatrice. The defense had argued Beatrice was drunk and fell repeatedly at their home last September, causing fatal injuries.
The Department of Housing and Urban Development announced a series of grants and loans. Awards include $368 000 to Armstrong County for water facilities, $931 200 to Allegheny County for low rent high rise homes, $16 640 to Shamokin for Sunbury Street Recreation Area development, and $88 492 to Lancaster to aid water supply planning. Urban planning aid went to East Donegal Township and Marietta Borough.
