Deerfield Farm fire could have been much worse
Volant Fire Chief Jeff Parish says the Deerfield Farms blaze on Black Road in Washington Township could have been worse given stored liquid fertilizer. Eight departments from Lawrence and Mercer counties responded after a wall of the garage workshop caught fire at 5:20 p.m. The fire was confined to the interior wall with smoke damage and no damage estimate yet. The fire marshal was not summoned.
