Ellwood City native Joseph F. Barletta has been chosen to head Thomson Newspapers operations in the United States for the Toronto based Thomson organization. The 54 year old said in a telephone interview that Thomson is dynamic innovative and creative and he recalled strong memories of his Ellwood City upbringing. Barletta grew up near Ewing Park and graduated from Ellwood City Area High School in 1955. He studied pre law at Marietta College worked as a correspondent for local papers and later joined Marietta Daily Times as a general assignment reporter before attending Duquesne Law School. He later worked with his father for three years before pursuing other opportunities.
