Emission rules split view in Pennsylvania clash over coal
Environmentalists praise EPA plan to cut carbon by 30 percent by 2030, but Pennsylvania voices caution. State Sen. John Wozniak notes coal plants provide about half of the state’s electricity, while coal groups warn many plants may shutter. Officials cite coal’s role at 31 of 61 plants and claim recent emissions have fallen since 2005 with further reductions expected by 2020.
