Karl Fleischer and Ray Douglass of R F D No 3 were hospitalized at Jamestown Memorial after the truck they rode in, owned by J S Riley & Sons, left the road and overturned near Walmo Monday afternoon. Douglass, who drove, suffered a facial laceration and contusions. Fleischer had arm lacerations, eye abrasion, and chest contusions. Both were reported in good condition this morning.
New York reports a North Atlantic speed war looming as the French Normandie will cut 10 hours from its eastbound schedule starting June 17. The Normandie shifts departure from midnight to 10 am from New York, arriving Havre on the usual timetable. Queen Mary crew and passengers doubt the British liner will lose the speed crown, with Cunard officials saying they are not chasing a record.

Hartford June 2 Connecticut’s 19 Republican delegates to the national convention, not pledged at the state meeting, were pledged to Governor Alf M Landon of Kansas. J Henry Roraback predicted a first ballot nomination and James W Wadsworth of New York would be running mate by acclamation. Corinne R Alsop of Avon will give one of the seconding speeches for the London nomination.
The Y M C A announces the pool will reopen tomorrow with newly decorated walls and ceiling and brighter lighting. Physical Director Henry T. MacNicholas says the enhanced lights and refreshed room will greet bathers as they return on Wednesday.

A man and a woman were killed when their car left the road and hit a curb, pole, and a stone wall by Highwood cemetery. Victims were H. H. Mercer 36 from Philo Ohio and Mrs. Carrie Davis 65 of Pittsburgh. Two others Betty Fowler 21 and Thomas Kelly 36 were injured. County toll reached 113 city 51. Mercer had invited the group for a ride.
Among the passengers on the Queen Mary the new sea giant docking in New York Monday was Trevor Lewis of 507 Wildwood Avenue son of David Lewis. He has spent six weeks in Europe sailing from New York on the Africania on April 15. His father and brother L. J. Lewis and Harry J. Culliford drove to New York to meet him and the party is expected home today or this evening.
Des Moines Iowa June 2 A 20 year old youth Reece Lewis son of J C Lewis president of the Iowa State Federation of Labor died at 7 20 A M less than 24 hours after he shot and killed Eileen Pratt 18 a high school senior and honor student The tragedy followed his failure to win her steady affection Her body lay on her bedroom floor with a blood splattered apron and a flaming red hair ribbon in her hand The youth died without regaining consciousness and did not reveal his motive in the deadly act.
Coroner Orville Potter reports no identification yet for the man killed in last Friday’s Route 422 collision near Parkstown Corners. The body remains at Boyd's Mortuary as inquiries are few while authorities await fingerprints from Washington.
