Ford Declares No Real Desire To Fly Or Drive Alone
Henry Ford voiced strong interest in aviation but said he has never flown and likely never will. He described Ford Air Service experiments between Dearborn and Chicago as a transport study rather than a mass aircraft venture and noted strict record keeping on engine performance, costs, and weather effects. He emphasized reliability over speed and the aim to learn through flight. Mrs. Edward Bailey of Chicago is noted as the sole woman in the country with a bricklayers union membership card, earned during cornerstone laying for a Better Homes project by the Chicago Federation of Women’s organizations.
