County man reports local scam involving court
Lawrence County DA’s office probes an apparent scam after a local man was told by someone posing as a deputy sheriff to pay 3996 in fines for fictitious federal grand jury citations. The caller demanded cash and warned not to tell anyone. The real sheriff’s office confirmed there is no federal grand jury or deputy with that name. Authorities urge caution with money requests over the phone.

Radar bill rewrite pits House plan against Senate
Harrisburg debate over a radar speed enforcement measure would allow only about 117 of Pennsylvania’s roughly 1,000 local police departments to use radar under a House Transportation Committee version. Critics say the changes gut protections and risk unequal enforcement while supporters seek a six year pilot and stricter safeguards.
