Graduate earns award and diploma after health hurdles
Emily Booth, a 19 year old Union Area High School senior with mild cerebral palsy, surpassed a 3.75 GPA to win the annual academic award at Union High School. Guided by counselor Christine Cataloni, she improved after earlier near misses, balancing English challenges with hard work. She was honored at the academic banquet with a medal and certificate as part of a cohort of about 50 sophomores, juniors and seniors receiving the award.

Former Hillsville resident accused of raping teen
Biloxi man Timothy Wayne Craig is jailed in Lawrence County on 18 felony counts tied to alleged rapes of a 16 year old girl during November and December last year at a Hillsville house where he and his wife lived. The hearing is set for June 7 in Central Court.
