Harrisburg bureau reports Shenango Area School District spent 1,851,475 during the year ending June 30 1971 up from 1,699,467 the prior year. Expenditure details include administration instruction transportation maintenance and debt service with reimbursements totaling 983,632 and subsidies for basic instruction transportation and other services.
Lawrence County REACT teams on 24 hour duty aided motorists at two rest stops serving 600 cups of coffee. They patrolled highways for stranded drivers, assisted at one accident, and helped with directions and tire changes. Helpers from PennDOT and local restaurants funded coffee. A July 4 Wake-Break planned. They also aided blood drives with 20 pints collected in four hours and 20 more pints planned. Next meeting is 8 p.m. June 6 at 505 Laurel Blvd, Austin Texas.
The Lawrence County Society for Crippled Children and Adults conducts summer speech evaluations for children at 2715 Ellwood Road treatment center. The program runs four two and a half hour sessions from June 11 to August 16, with morning 9:30 to noon for pre kindergarten and afternoon 1 to 3:30 for pre first graders. Enrollments require an evaluation prior to June 12.
