Industrial Development Leader Reviews Efforts
WAMPUM area progress report by James L. Ferrante, head of the boroughs industrial development corporation, notes limited success with attracting firms. A soft drink producer, the Coleman Co., plans production in the borough amid calls for free land and long-term tax relief. Ferrante cites lack of free land and no land giveaway as barriers and predicts a tough second half to the year. Also reports births in Wampum and a car rollover near Portersville injuring 16-year-old Raymond Clair Duncan, treated by a local physician after swerving to avoid a pedestrian on Pa. 488.

Solomon Files Petition Reply in Wampum School Case
New Castle Wampum property owners seeking to oust the borough school board must appeal auditor reports within 45 days, said Solicitor Joseph Solomon in reply to residents. He filed preliminary objections as residents failed to name responsible directors and noted actions by the Joint Wampum Big Beaver Two School Board from July 21, 1952 to July 1, 1961. He argued notice should have gone to each director and that he should not be required to reply for them.
