Arrests Rise in May Across City Violations and Drunkenness
May saw a larger arrest list as police filed 150 defendants on docket for trial for offenses including parking and light violations. Many were ordered to appear before the mayor to explain infractions while auto light offenses yielded filings rather than fines. Drunkenness surged with 60 arrests, and burglaries, reckless driving, loitering, liquor transport, warrants, disorderly conduct, and suspicious person charges filled the rest of the month. Acting Mayor W. J. Burns weighs light fines and total enforcement.
