Two University of Texas 23 year old coeds Susan Rigsby and Shirley Ann Stark were found dead in a field near Austin. Police believe rape occurred as a 100 man search intensified. Investigators noted autopsy findings may take days while officers pursue any leads.

An application for 25 680 dollars in federal funds for a county wide anti poverty study has been approved by the regional Office of Economic Opportunity in Washington on behalf of CHARGIS Inc. Lawrence County action program. The grant will arrive in five to six weeks. Local share totals 2520 dollars with 761 cash and 1753 in kind. A nine month study will be supervised by an executive director at 7650 dollars. Pennsylvania State University will conduct the study for 10000 dollars with a project director three researchers a secretary and five interviewers.
