Attorney Donald E Williams has been named campaign chair for the Republican party in Lawrence County to run the election effort. County Chairman Alfred Hawkins announced the appointment after meeting the county committee and rejecting Hawkins resignation while pledging support for Williams.

The New China News Agency says a secret China Liberal Party plot to overthrow the government was foiled. Arrests occurred in Tsingtao on June 15, with Lu Chien Pao as secretary general and Tang Tiu Chuan as shadow foreign minister. The suspects allegedly planned to expand to Peiping Shanghai and Hong Kong.

Dulles arrived and stressed the plan must curb the danger of a surprise attack. He met with the American disarmament delegation led by Harold E. Stassen.
Moscow Radio bitterly criticized Secretary of State John Foster Dulles for his role in the London disarmament conference. It pledged to block progress and reassert Moscow demands while the talks faltered and Eisenhower sent Dulles to seek a practical first-step disarmament agreement.
In Madison voters cast ballots in a Wisconsin primary to choose Republican and Democratic nominees for the Aug. 27 special election to fill the late Joseph R. McCarthy's Senate term. Former Gov. In Anderson South Carolina a 17 month old, Yvonne Beasley, was rescued four hours ten minutes after plunging 33 feet into a 10 inch pipe. Chief Bailey Maddox directed the operation with an elbow angle to stop the fall. She was rushed to a hospital with bruises and exposure. Dodgers noted doctors kept her alive using oxygen from a truck cylinder during drilling.
Five year old Gail Ann Payne died at 2 45 p m in New Castle from a crash at Croton Avenue and Duquesne Street. Her companion Lynda Allen, four, was injured and treated. Driver David S Martin 21 said he saw the girls only after they ran from a parked car. Coroner Meehan and police questioned the driver as details continued on page 2 column 6.
