Plain Grove Grange loses bit of history as building sold
Nearly 100 years of Plain Grove Grange history ended Thursday when the building was auctioned for tear down due to poor condition. Alan and Elizabeth Emery of Slippery Rock bought the hall for 50 dollars, planning to use the lumber for another structure in Slippery Rock. The timber includes over 100 full cut beams, with removal expected by year’s end. Built by the Plain Grove Hall Association, established in 1891, the hall served as a community center and IOOF meeting place since 1892, financed by 145 shares of stock.
