Weather in Cooperstown delayed the Hall of Fame ceremony as a watch party at the Main St. Chapel in Wampum honored Dick Allen, a 1960 Wampum High School graduate elected by the Classic Era Committee. Bobby Miller and Frank Ferrucci visited Allen’s gravesite at Clinton United Methodist Church, reflecting on his long overdue 2025 induction alongside Ichiro Suzuki CC Sabathia Billy Wagner and Dave Parker.

Borough honors Allen in Hall of Fame posthumous induction
Residents of Wampum and surrounding community gathered Friday to celebrate Dick Allen’s posthumous induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown. Allen, known as Richie and Sleepy, grew up in Wampum Chewton and died December 7, 2020 at age 78. Neighbor Mary Barber recalled him as a wonderful man.
