New Castle Area Teachers Contract Approved by Board
New Castle Area School District approves a five year teachers contract by a 5 to 3 vote at a special meeting. Board members voting yes were Mark Panella Patrick Amabile Karen Humphrey Gary Schooley and Stacey Kee with Anéanin Pascarella Rankin and Robert Lyles voting no citing salaries and worry of tax increases in five years. This followed a prior vote on a six year contract.

District ends holdout provides copies of teachers contract
After ratifying a new five year teachers contract, New Castle Area School District released both the previous contract and the newly adopted five year agreement. The board had defeated a proposed six year pact with the New Castle Federation of Teachers, a 4 to 0?4 vote. The News filed a Right to Know request seeking the terms of the rejected contract.

Volant council votes to sue over uncollected portable toilet
In a three month gap meeting the Volant borough council, after an executive session on a pending public restroom lawsuit, voted to sue Dana Barr owner of Oak Creek Creations for delays in removing portable toilets. Deb Lakin moved to bring Barr to the district magistrate over unpicked toilets violating the borough agreement. Barr replied, If you want to take me to court, go right ahead.
