Ground breaks for 120 bed elderly convalescent home

Joseph Augustine broke ground yesterday for a new 120 bed convalescent home at Edison Avenue and Locust Street. The three story facility, costing about 2 million, will have 60 beds for long term care and 60 for intermediate care, with a staff of 90. Augustine plans a management company to operate it, with initial control by himself. He aimed to fund the project after his prior pizza business and a clinic stay inspired the idea ten years ago. Expected occupancy in about a year.
