Weekend double stabbing shocks Croton area
Croton area residents faced two fatal and non fatal stabbings Friday night as police say Larry J. Cioffi II 20 died from a chest wound after pursuing suspect Jeffery Altman 27 who allegedly stabbed his cousin Donald Cioffi 21 in a Cascade Street Dewey Avenue confrontation. Altman was arraigned on criminal homicide and assault charges and jailed without bond.

Infant twin girls die in Martin Street fire
Five month old Brooke Robertson died at St Francis Hospital about 5 30 p m. Britnie Robertson died at the scene about 5 10 p m. Their mother Vickie Robertson and three other children escaped as Lawrence County Coroner J Russell Noga noted the fire cause undetermined but not suspicious. Firefighters arrived to a blaze engulfing the house on 406 Martin St with two children inside. Autopsies will determine the cause.
