River Road resident Ashley Fisher recalls her trained goldendoodle Winston bolting from the Ellwood City yard after industrial fireworks. The dog had helped ease her anxiety by licking, nudging, or applying deep pressure therapy, but four days prior he disappeared during the loud explosions. Book Cellar to reopen in library basement Aug 9
The Friends of the New Castle Public Library announce the Book Cellar will reopen in the library basement from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on August 9 after nearly three years. A basement bag sale on August 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. offers books and DVDs for $5 each as part of the move and setup.

Dick Allen to be inducted into Hall of Fame in Cooperstown
Dick Allen, who died in 2020 at 78, will be inducted at a 1:30 p.m. Sunday ceremony in Cooperstown, New York.
