Donald Charles McKnight, 34, formerly of Volant RD 3, drowned while water skiing with friends near New Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Tank Explosion Rocks Village in New York Town
A propane gas truck explosion devastated an eastern New York village near the Vermont border drawing rescue crews from Pillsfield Massachusetts and other towns. Sheriff Harriman called it the worst fire in 22 years as victims were rushed to hospitals in Troy New York and Bennington Vermont. The truck belonged to Matlack Transportation Co. of West Chester PA and authorities probe the explosion's cause while ambulances shuttled victims on 40 mile trips.
