Eleven Campers Die In Stream In Massachusetts Tragedy
Nine boy campers and two men directors of the Springfield Boys Club drowned when a boat capsized on a pond. The launch towing them turned back to shore as a huge wave toppled the boat. Survivors clung to the craft until rescues failed, and efforts continued as bodies were recovered. Leonard Santasiero, 25, tried to save four youths and perished with them.
