City and County Seek Public Comment on CDBG Funding
New Castle and Lawrence County seek resident input on Community Development Block Grant allocations. New Castle, an entitlement community, will decide its use with about 320,241 dollars for the city and 613,245 dollars for the county to benefit low income residents. Police charged David Choi, 76, of Scarborough Ontario, owner of the former Shenango China plant at 301 Glass Street, with criminal counts after a July 9 search of the 34.34 acre site. Mercer man finds woman’s class ring after 48 years
Becky Woods Bolyard lost her 1977 Mercer High School class ring years ago. Her brother in law Joe Marshall found the ring June 25 buried 10 inches beneath a farm stone after two years of metal detecting. Bolyard and Marshall recall the ring’s sentimental pledge and family hunts.

County Sells Several Repository Properties
Lawrence County commissioners have sold 13 properties from the county repository in the past month. Six sold at the July 15 public meeting and seven at the Tuesday meeting. The county holds 835 parcels in the repository, managed when taxes are delinquent beyond two years and not yet in annual tax sales.
