An Automo bile and an interurban car collision on the Lake Shore Electric line near Toledo results in three deaths and four serious injuries. Victims include Mrs Roger Meyer 26 and two children Harold 6 and Geraldine Heverman. Roger Meyer suffered a broken leg and severe bruises. The Meyer family and the Heverman family are among the injured with claims no signal was shown at the crossing.
Mrs. F. J. Woods of 814 Park nyo dus awards A. C. Querrey a local contractor a contract to erect a two story brick bungalow 36 by 36 at the corner of Rela and Wallace avenue. Excavation starts immediately and the superstructure will be rushed upon Querrey’s return from a business trip.
Young hunter Tress Baldwin near Confer church claims a remarkable catch in Lawrence County. In one day he reportedly took six young chickens, shot five polecats, a wrenzel groundhog and two field mice. Most was destroyed except the chickens. hawks may be shown at the New Custie fair.
Thomas Verne Ryhal was captured by Sheriff D. J. Jarrett and a Mercer county posse at his Blacktown area home around 7 a.m. He hid between a bed tick, carried about $158, and was unarmed. He denies involvement in the Lennox assault and fled after fearing a different case. He was taken to the Lawrence county jail, with limited witnesses present.
J M Dight a Baltimore railroad engineer from North Liberty Pa died at 2 15 pm after a touring car collided head on with a truck on the road between Sheckleyville and Mercer. His wife and sister in law were badly injured all three taken to Greenville hospital. The driver escaped unharmed. Dight a longtime B&O employee and church member is survived by five children.
Porter, a Chewton resident aged 36 to 40 with a wife, was charged after an alleged assault on Elizabeth Houk and an attempt to burn the Wampum jail. A fire set beside his cell was discovered and extinguished. Porter was held for the September term after a hearing before Squire W. H. McCready with State Police presence.
The famous Captain Waters band of Pittsburgh spent the week at Camp Major Dondamby Thompson on Grant Street playing daily concerts. They serenaded The News this afternoon, performing several selections to the appreciation of the crowd and News reporters.
Rome reports ongoing clashes between Communists and fascists with deadly ambushes near Grosse. A Paselsti member was killed in an ambush by Communists. fascists retaliated with a violent attack leaving seven dead. Thirty seven houses burned around Grosse.
