Army Officers Missing After Flight From Fort Benning

About 40 southeastern air corps planes scoured the area between Montgomery Alabama and Jackson Mississippi for Major Fred S Stocks and Captain William S Harg en missing since Saturday on a flight from Fort Benning Georgia to Kelly Field Texas. Authorities expected an early notice on their location but no clues had been found. The missing ship could not have reached beyond Jackson given fuel limits. The formation left Fort Benning with two other planes, those planes returning to base after weather split the group. Last contact was a radio report from Major Stocks to Maxwell Field saying he was near that field.

Two Men Killed In Truck Crash In New Castle

Two men died and a third was injured after a truck driven by John Saesan struck them on South Jefferson Street near George Street around 12 20 a m Sunday. The dead are Atlee Smith Horace McHenry and Horace Atkins. Saesan and his brother Arnold posted bail for a hearing on charges by Acting Chief Ralph Criswell. The injured man, Harry Atkins, remained in New Castle hospital in serious condition with head and leg injuries. Saesan said glare from a northbound auto blinded him as he drove toward the Romanian club after business hours.
