Report from Capulin Colorado says the Terrace Reservoir earthen dam, 198 feet high, appears to be holding after a gushing hole formed Thursday. Rain swollen waters had rushed seven cubic feet per second, eroding the structure and prompting evacuation of San Luis Valley residents.
Gov. George M. Leader signed a bill appropriating 75000 dollars to the George Jr. Republic Association in Grove City. The funds will finance construction of new buildings and repairs to existing structures at the George Jr. Republic School in Mercer County.
Citizens urged to water lawns and wash streets as Old Neshannock Creek runs low. Drivers warned to avoid slow tours on main roads while youths recover from summer injuries. A jet training plane exploded over a Worcester residential area killing pilot 1st Lt. Lawrence C. Guild and Capt. John F. Murphy Jr. The crash ignited six homes and spread flaming fuel. Guild's body was found strapped in his T33 seat near Grenier Air National Guard base. Murphy's body was located in a yard nearby. Investigators say Guild may have tried to land at Indian Lake.

Hollywood Frances Liberace 68 mother of pianist Liberace was attacked at her Sherman Oaks home as she took out trash. Two six foot plus hooded men knocked her to the floor and struck her, saying the assault would give Liberace something to laugh about. She fled into the house and police were told of the brutal incident.
Authorities searched for the bodies of three boys who drowned while swimming in the swift current of the Ohio River near Elizabethtown Til. The incident occurred as rescue teams worked to locate the missing youths.
In Beverly Hills California Leo Aaron Lewie a 47 year old liquor store clerk was held on murder charges for shooting his estranged wife Blanche and his 15 year old stepdaughter Minda Birnbaum in the office of attorney Murray M Chotiner a former Nixon campaign manager Mrs Lewie who had considered divorce died at once and the girl died after surgery at an emergency hospital Lewie had been released on bail and was to appear Monday on charges of immoral acts against his stepdaughter.
The government bribery conspiracy case against Teamsters Union Vice President James R. Hoffa goes to a federal district court jury of five women and seven men. Hoffa faces three counts of conspiracy and bribery and potential penalties.

The strike by sheet metal workers ends as Local Union 12 accepts a new contract. The deal raises hourly pay by 25 cents effective immediately, bringing wages to 3.3342 dollars per hour and runs through June 30 1958 with fringe benefits included. Spokesman C W Delaney notes workers agreed to terms after initial offers were rejected and about 1 400 workers statewide were idled.

A mother and her son were bitten by a dog on Thursday on Dewey Ave. Mrs. Adam Carungi of 1113 Dewey Ave reported the attack. The dog is owned by Russell Zurasky of 1119 Dewey Ave.
