Richard Dick Allen will be honored with two weekends of events in New Castle and Wampum Borough ahead of his July 27 induction ceremony in Cooperstown. Ziff Sistrunk Sr. and a local committee organize celebrations, with a testimonial dinner at Le Resto in New Castle to share memories from friends, former teammates, and residents. Allen, AL MVP and No. 15 retired by Philadelphia, died December 7, 2020, at age 78.

Union and nursing facilities seal $120 million wage pact in Pa
Thousands of long term care workers at more than two dozen Pennsylvania nursing homes will gain about 120 million dollars in wage hikes under a two year contract. The agreement, covering over 2,500 union staff at four operators Saber WeCare Kadima Healthcare and Focus, also secures retirement benefits and training to curb turnover. 90 percent of members across 27 homes approved the deal. The pact comes amid surveys showing staff vacancies and capacity limits at facilities since 2021 with 30 homes closed.
