An air sea search is under way for a U S Air Force C 47 transport with 16 aboard that vanished near Taipei Taiwan en route from Clark Field Philippines to Formosa The last radio contact was 9 23 Tuesday night the aircraft was 30 miles northwest of Taipei A Albatross rescue plane was sent from Clark Field to the scene.
Reports say at least 102 people were killed last week across Colombia in renewed violence. An official statement cites 80 deaths while unofficial reports add 22 more in Cajamarca, Tolima. Interior Minister Villarreal voiced hope for a quick normalization as armed groups remain active in the eastern plains. No details of the incidents were released.

Harrisburg report ties June milk drop to poor pasture conditions across Pennsylvania. Cows averaged 642 pounds in June versus 645 a year earlier as pastures fell three percent of normal and eight percent below May. Through six months, state production totaled 3.411 billion pounds, down two percent.

Finalists span Arkansas California Illinois Iowa Maryland Massachusetts Nebraska Nevada New York Ohio South Carolina Texas Utah Washington West Virginia with tonight's Miss USA winner advancing to Friday's Miss Universe finals against international entrants.
The United States assures Atlantic allies they will gain access to nuclear weapons in war, even if disarmament accords forbid production. Officials say a NATO stockpile may be created though no decision has been made, as training and delivery of weapons capable of firing atomic and conventional shells have begun.

Two Coast Guard attack planes blew up a 21 by 6 foot drum containing radioactive sodium that had threatened navigation in the Atlantic since Sunday. The 185 mile southeast of New York explosion removed the hazard and the ship warning was immediately withdrawn.
Gov. George M. Leader approved a new act outlawing wiretaps with an effective date of 15 days. He called it the most effective legislation on the subject. Evidence obtained unlawfully is not admissible in court, with penalties up to a $5000 fine and one year in prison. Victims may sue for damages.

Cornelius Rodgers of Swissvale, a white 78-year-old pensioner, stood before a grand jury on charges he killed junk dealer Dushon Radokovic, 74, with an ax after a heated argument following a drinking party. Officers testified Rodgers admitted striking Radokovic twice.
Dorothy Ellen Sullivan age 11 of 709 Carlisle Street was admitted to Jameson Memorial Hospital Tuesday with contusions to both hands left thigh and right knee after a fall at home.
Samuel Bilson, 41, AD 4, Har lansburg, fell from a hay wagon Tuesday and injured his left knee. He was treated at the scene before being transported for further care.
The Eisenhower administration announced a major compromise on the civil rights bill to ease southern fears of federal intervention in school segregation cases. The Part III proposal would be substantially altered to limit federal injunctions and require local authorization before intervention, while the president urged early passage without crippling amendments.
Richard Schoenfeld 31 of Butler died in a collision with a tractor trailer on Route 8 five miles south of Butler. The truck was driven by William E. Potter 26 of Harrisville RD 1 Pa. State police reported Schoenfeld's car rear-ended the trailer today.
