In Chicago on July 17 a jury of 11 married men and a widower found Mildred Mary Bolton, 46, guilty of murdering her husband. The panel decreed death by electric chair, noting no woman has ever been executed in Illinois. Continued on Page Two.
Washington corresponded report from New Castle News notes Lawrence County shows 15 697 passenger car registrations, about 161 per 1000 residents, higher than most Pennsylvania counties. Butler leads with 180 per 1000, Beaver 191, Mercer 164, Lawrence near 161 in the census study.

Cpl Charles A Lindbergh notified Air Minister Hermann Goering that he will accept the invitation to visit Germany. He plans to tour German military land and commercial aviation facilities and is expected to arrive near Berlin by airplane on July 22.
Boston July 17 The theatrical world mourns Orville Knapp 26 a nationally prominent orchestra leader who died when his airplane crashed at Beverly airport His wife Gioria Gratton a musical comedy star rallied from shock and ordered the show to go on The orchestra was to finish a week long engagement in Boston hotels

HOLLYWOOD July 17 One of the foremost film directors Alan Crosland 61 creator of the Jazz Singer died in Hollywood hospital of pneumonia two days after sustaining serious injuries in an automobile accident He passed away at 10 40 oclock last night while battling for life.

A demented farmer in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Charles Lutz, 41, killed a constable after a gun battle with state troopers. Lutz, father of four, was captured wounded in the arm and not in serious condition. Abner A. Mul, 24, was the constable killed in the rampage.
In New Kensington Pennsylvania on July 17 rescue crews worked through more than 1000 tons of rock to reach 44 year old miner Steve Harvare father of nine trapped by a rock fall at the Renton Mine of Union Collieries near here. Officials feared he may be dead or dying if he remained under the debris while teams drilled and shifted rock to create a path. He was trapped while blasting to relieve pressure on the mine roof.
Framingham Mass July 17 Harold Weeks 40 a Wellesley photographer died when his southbound car collided head on with a truck on Worcester Turnpike. The out of control truck hurtled into the highway center.
