Cincinnati July 16 Professor Tugwell flies west to rescue the perishing and bring hope to distressed farmers. The resettlement chief, blamed for past policy failures, faces a drought driven test of population shifting as the Rural Resettlement Administration nearly folded.
George Andrew McMahon, a Westbourne Terrace journalist, is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life in the alleged plot against King Edward. The case centers on an attack associated with a London round-up of communists.

In Youngstown Ohio on July 16 Harry Carlock fatally wounded his 19 year old daughter Martha after an argument over four or five dollars given for her to hold. He wounded another daughter Margaret and then killed himself in the family rear yard as five other children slept nearby. The daughter died several hours later at St Elizabeths hospital. Edward the son said the money dispute triggered the tragedy.

Johnstown Pa would host the 1936 American Legion convention after all night talks between state officers and Mayor Daniel J Shields. Legion Commander John McDade said the city will retain the site if a few minor details are ironed out in further negotiations today.
