Robert Wadlow, an eight foot eleven inch American youth from Alton Illinois, died at 1 45 a m in a hotel room after an eleven day illness. He contracted a leg infection during braces on his legs to support his 491 pound frame. His death follows rapid fever and medical care.
John Crawford a 15 year old colored boy of Wampum drowned in the Beaver River in Wayne township near Newport Saturday evening around 5 30. His brother Leroy and John Brommer tried to rescue him but failed. The Ellwood City rescue squad recovered the body about an hour later. The coroner viewed the body and it was removed to Marshall funeral home in Wampum. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock at the Marshall funeral home conducted by Rev L A Matthews. Interment was in Clinton cemetery. He is survived by his father John Crawford Jr his grandfather John Crawford Sr and his aunt Mrs Shepard.
County coroner Dr T F Nugent remains homebound with several broken ribs after a weekend stairway spill. An attending physician reports he will be unable to be about for about a week.

Whiling suffered facial and nose lacerations.
Steve Gruca aged 24 of Slippery Rock was treated at Jameson Memorial hospital Saturday evening at 9 35 for injuries from a two vehicle crash at the intersection of Routes 19 and 108 in Harlansburg He had hitched a ride on a truck involved in the collision The driver was not known to him He returned home after treatment.
