South New Castle will merge with Shenango Township on January 1 and relocate its World War II honor roll to a prominent spot at J.P. Byers Park. Township manager Albert Burick II outlined a plan to create a stone memorial honoring local veterans similar to Shenango Township’s South Hill tribute. The existing site on private property will be moved, safeguarded in the township building, then reinstalled next year as part of the new monument.
