Thousands demonstrate outside the British embassy in Tokyo, shouting anti-British slogans as police disperse the crowd. Ambassadors staff are protected while a mob leader is hospitalized after injuring a officer. The unrest coincides with Tientsin blockade talks.
PA New Castle observes brisk shirtwaist fashion talk on the streets while fireworks are recalled as thunder roars. A resident, Claude Chetty, was struck by a hornet at Sharpsville. Brick work begins on a nurses home at New Castle Hospital. Weather notes end with rain and lightning.
Daily weather figures show the period ending Thursday with a maximum of 89 and a minimum of 65 degrees, no precipitation noted, and a river stage of 4.4 feet. The year-ago figures record a maximum of 86 and a minimum of 58 with no precipitation.
Adolf Wagner, Nazi leader in Munich, proclaims that when Hitler wishes to seize Danzig no one can stop him. He argues Sudetenland, Ostmark and Danzig symbolize German culture and a rightful claim to transform it into reality, with timing and location to be decided by the Fuehrer.
Geneva reports say Germany with Italy allies has a ten year lease and control of Trieste port, turning the city into a free port for a month. Rome denies any lease or new privileges. Swiss and Paris outlets describe German construction and troop movements through Trieste toward Libya, with Italy bearing on foreign expulsions.
President Roosevelt nominated Charley Alvin Jones, defeated Pennsylvania governor candidate in 1938, to serve on the U S Circuit Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. The nomination was sent to the Senate for confirmation.
Four persons injured in a two vehicle crash at Grant and North Mercer at 11 95 p m. A Campbell Taxi Co. cab and an Andrews Plumbing Co. truck collided as the truck attempted to cross, seriously injuring Benjamin Haines who has a jaw fracture and possible brain concussion. Randall Haines sustained knee burns while occupants Rilla Moe Allsopp and Mildred Hotaling from the taxi were treated for bruises and a chin cut.
Two WPA employees, Arthur Weaver aged 52 of Locust street and John Cain aged 52 of R F D No 5, are hospitalized with serious upper body burns after a gas explosion in a North Mercer street sewer trench during storm sewer construction. Attending physicians say prognosis is fair and WPA officials say whether sewer or natural gas caused the blast has not yet been determined.
Mrs. Carl Kingsbury and husband of New Orleans have been in New Castle after the death of Mrs. A. R. Kingsbury of Meyer avenue. Kingsbury, a World War veteran, was among the first to enlist with the Sixth Marines and earned the Distinguished Service Cross at Chateau Thierry while aiding wounded buddies. He now works with Allied Chemical Company in New Orleans.
Harrisburg July 14 A more liberal season for Pennsylvania's 00,000 hunters was decreed by the game commission today with increased bag limits on most kinds of game. Col Nicholas Biddie president of the commission led the decision after talks with sportsmen groups. Ruffed grouse two a day ten a season bobwhite quail five and fourteen ringneck pheasants two and twelve racoons three and twelve. Turkeys squirrels and rabbits limits unchanged at one six and twenty and four and twenty. Statewide ducks season declared with antlerless deer allowed in four counties for two days only Warren Forest part of Potter and Jefferson areas. Bucks in those counties to be hunted Dec 1 to 15 and dec two days more.
Paris marked the 150th anniversary of the Bastille's fall with a massive military parade. Thirty thousand soldiers processed down the Boulevards to the Arc de Triomphe as 350 flanks and motorized artillery units showcased mobility. 52 British bombers and pursuit aircraft joined 400 airplanes in formation over the city.
HARLAN Ky July 14 George Titler union secretary and 230 others held in Harlan county jail on charges from the rot Wednesday in which a miner was killed and eight injured. They asked the United Mine Workers to supply bail. Most held on 1000 bonds totaling 235000. Trials set for next Monday before County Judge E C Ball. Titler charged with sedition rebellion and forcible assault on National Guardsmen. His wife jailed.

London notes large scale naval and air maneuvers with 130 warships and hundreds of planes. Paris shows mass demonstration of 30000 soldiers signaling wartime readiness. Unconfirmed reports indicate further Danzig developments as Hitler seeks to press claims.
The body of New York State Senator C Tracey Stapel, an Ithaca Republican and chairman of the Senate taxation committee, was found today in woods near Endfield after his car was located abandoned. He shot himself, leaving farewell notes saying he was sane but in poor health due to legislative work.
Members of the First United Presbyterian church and families held a picnic at New Wilmington community park, organized by the Men's Bible class social committee including George P. Smith Fred C. Wolford and J L McConaghy. The event was among the best the congregation has held in New Castle.

Miss Alice Sterling librarian returns to duty after vacation and trip to California attending the American Library Association Convention in San Francisco. She visited the Golden Gate Exposition and other California sites, traveling there and back by different routes in about one week.
President Roosevelt told WPA workers nationwide that they cannot strike against the federal government during a press conference. He declined further comment on the WPA crisis, citing its complexity. A later meeting of mayors in Washington led by Mayor LaGuardia considered the strikes as the AFL opposed wage and hour provisions. The attorney general Frank Murphy’s stance was echoed in the official briefing.

An attractive young woman tentatively identified as Anna Wonyetye of De Lroik was seriously injured when she was hurled from a speeding automobile on the outskirts of suburban Lakeville early today. She was taken to Nassau hospital at Mineola as police hunted for the vehicle along Long Island highways.
About 15,000 Lions are expected in Pittsburgh for the 23rd annual convention starting Tuesday. Edwin R. Kingsley, convention chairman, predicts large turnout and extensive celebrations including parades and parties. Cuban Lions plan to spend about $20,000 and will bring a 50 passenger railroad engine replica and the Cuban Marine Band for the event.
James L. McDevitt, president of the Pennsylvania Labor Federation, says AFL readers hope for a last minute solution to avert a WPA worker strike at quitting time. He notes William Green and President Roosevelt are meeting in Washington to resolve the issue, and says unions will follow Green’s lead if he issues an order. Philadelphia building trades council debates policy if withdrawal becomes necessary.
Greater New Castle Association executive vice president Arthur H. Andrews will travel to Washington and Baltimore on association business Monday Tuesday and Wednesday next week. He expects to confer with government officials and plans to visit headquarters of several federal departments.
